Brooke Shields, the star of the iconic film ‘The Blue Lagoon’ (1980), is set to return to the exotic setting that made her globally famous. This time, however, her return will be for a comedy titled ‘Almost Paradise,’ co-starring with David Spade, known from ‘Saturday Night Live.’ According to Deadline, ‘Almost Paradise,’ which is currently under development by Fox, is written by Danny Zuker of ‘Modern Family’ fame, with Kapital Entertainment’s Aaron Kaplan overseeing production for the new series. The show will follow a married couple stranded on an island for decades, transforming their survival story into a hilarious family comedy. The inspiration for the series came from a chance encounter between Shields and Kaplan. The idea gained momentum, eventually leading to Spade’s involvement, with whom Shields previously worked on NBC’s comedy ‘Just Shoot Me!’ Both Shields and Spade have participated in pitch meetings and development discussions, and if the project gets the green light, they are expected to take on the lead roles.
