Faced with a major strike that has paralyzed the production of 737 MAX and 777 is from last Friday (13.09.2024) the American aeronautics company that announced that it is taking steps to preserve its liquidity. According to the message sent to employees by Brian West, the financial director of the Boeing group building aircraft, the company decided to freeze all recruitments, is preparing to drastically reduce the refueling costs and is considering suspending its employees “within the next few weeks”. More than 30,000 workers, building aircraft of the company in its factories in the western US, continue their strike for the fourth day today. “I know these actions will cause uncertainty and concern. This strike endangers our recovery and we must take the necessary measures to preserve liquidity and ensure our common future,” West added. The negotiators of the company and union will resume talks on the new contract of employment tomorrow. Last week the International Association of Aerospace Engineers and Workers (IAM), Boeing’s largest syndicate, rejected the proposal involving wage increases of 25% over a four-year period but without an annual profitability bonus.
