Bob Menendez: 15 Years Sentence to Former Democratic Senator U.S. Prosecutors Suggest

CORVERSE In their proposal to convict him, by the New York federal court, the American prosecutors say: “ Menendez’s behavior is perhaps more serious than any other senator has been condemned in U.S. history ” and they note that he must be imprisoned for 15 years. Like the Bloomberg news agency, Menendez was convicted after a jury verdict on the case of 13 gold bars, nearly $500,000 in cash and a luxury car confiscated in his home. The jury condemned Menendez for all 16 charges, after a two-month trial in which prosecutors argued that he used his influence to protect businessmen and promote Egypt’s interests. Menendez, who will seek a new trial, has argued that his wife Nadine accepted gifts without his knowledge, which is even tried separately.
