Bill Gates to Commit $ 1.5 Billion to US Climate Change Projects

Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates says his own climate investment fund will commit $ 1.5 billion to joint projects with the US government if Congress launches a program to develop emission-reducing technologies coal.

Speaking to reporters, Gates said the fund managed by his own Breakthrough Energy could spend the money over three years on projects aimed at slowing down greenhouse gas emissions causing climate change.

Breakthrough projects that would have to compete with other applicants for the funds could include “green fuel” for aircraft as well as a technology for removing carbon dioxide from the atmosphere.
