Biden awarded thanks to congressional committee members threatened with prosecution by Trump

He awarded thanks to several prominent public officials on Monday (20.01,2025), who faced threats from their newly elected president, Donald Trump, who is expected to take office in a few hours when his inauguration in Washington will take place. Specifically Joe Biden awarded thanks to Dr. Anthony Faucci, the former director of the U.S. National Institute of Allergies and Infectious Diseases, who led the nation’s COVID-19 pandemic and retired general Mark Milley, the former president of the General Staff. CORVERSE The president also gave thanks to members and staff of the Congressional commission who investigated the attack on January 6, 2021, in addition to US Capitol police and Washington Metropolitan Police officers, who testified before the Select Committee. Biden’s decision was made after Donald Trump warned of a list of enemies filled with those who have “crusted him” politically or tried to put him accountable for his attempt to overthrow his defeat in the 2020 election and his role in the US Capitol invasion on January 6, 2021. Trump chose cabinet candidates who supported his electoral lies and who are committed to punishing those involved in his research efforts. In fact, he has repeatedly promised revenge on his enemies when he returns to the White House. “These public officials served our nation with honor and distinction and do not deserve to be the target of unjustified and politically motivated persecution,” Biden said in a statement. Biden over the past few weeks said he would consider granting grace to people who might be targeted by the upcoming government. In his Monday morning statement he said favors do not indicate individuals “who are involved in any wrongdoing.”
