Betty Magira: “they were Shaking my legs! Κοκάλωσα”

By Georgia Thomas
On December 8, Mamma Mia!, for the first time in the Greek version, premiered at the scene of the Acropol…
How do you feel about this role in one of the most popular musical in the world?
Tanya I loved her, says Betty Magira in the People. It’s a woman who enjoys life and female nature. Likes to live to the max, to go with younger men, this is what today we call a “woman cougar”. The love these women, without taboos, so I loved this role. It is a very different character from Donna (the role played by Despina Vandi) and Rosie (the role of Μαριέλλας Savvidou), so the work we see how they interact with three totally different personalities. I love musicals, so I’m very happy that I stumbled across this show with these wonderful and talented actors and singers and I hope the overall result to be like and in the world.
Do you have in common with the heroine?
Not a lot of. The common is that it has a sense of humor, likes life and having a good time. However, for some reason I feel close to her. In the other, nor divorces have not, for plastic I’ve done, or cougar I am! But I managed to love the Tanya and to get to her.
As a child, you were a wild one, and επαναστράτρια it?
Never! I was always the good kid. Loved everyone in the neighborhood, all the friends of my mom and the moms of συμμαθητριών.

The Mamma Mia! working with Despina Vandi, which makes its debut on the theatrical stage. How is the chemistry?
With Despina knew each other for years, not very well, of course, as always I went to the store where she was to see her. But, it’s a very open person, and from the very first rehearsal it felt like we were friends. It is very giving. He had the enthusiasm of a small child and that in and of itself is sweet and nice, because it leaves you closer to her. Laughing too much in rehearsal and there’s a lot of beautiful interaction between us.
It is the second theatrical of your business, after the show, Before The Dawn of Reppas – Papathanasiou, in the leading right part.
Yes. I’ll never forget that opening night. Shaking my legs. In every scene that I played was going to say “I’m good, say well.” The first month I had and “sheet”. Κοκάλωσα for a few seconds, which seemed forever, and then I caught again the sentence from the beginning. Fortunately, greatly helped the other actors at the time to get unstuck.
