The historic Villa Certosa in Sardinia — once the exclusive retreat of former Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi, where he hosted world leaders including George W. Bush, Tony Blair, Vladimir Putin, and former Spanish Prime Minister José María Aznar — has been sold to Qatar’s ruling Al Thani family for €350 million, according to Italian media reports.
A Legendary Estate Changes Hands
As reported by the online edition of Corriere della Sera, the luxury estate — long synonymous with high-profile diplomacy and lavish ‘bunga-bunga’ parties — will soon be transferred to the Al Thani family through Constellation Hotels Holding Ltd SCA, a Luxembourg-based investment firm.
The villa was originally valued at €500 million, but the final sale price settled at €350 million. The Berlusconi family confirmed it had accepted a “binding purchase offer” for the property.
Luxury Features and Uncertain Future
Villa Certosa spans 4,500 square meters across 126 rooms. Its opulent features include a Greek-inspired amphitheater-style theater, multiple swimming pools, and a vast seaside park. While the transaction is nearing completion, it remains unclear whether the estate will be converted into an ultra-luxury hotel or retained as a private residence.
