Panic prevailed in the arrest of a man who attempted to enter armed with a knife into his residence, Alexander De Cro. The armed man was arrested by police, after attempting to enter the Prime Minister’s residence on Monday morning (06.01.2024) at Rue de la Loi 16 around 10 Monday. The military officers guarding the building immobilized him and no one was injured. CORVERSE “The person was transferred to the police station. Military police were not injured during the intervention,” Bared Lynch, the Belgian Prime Minister’s communication director, said, confirming the incident. After the incident and the arrest of the man the police issued an announcement stating: “We can confirm that around 10 o’clock Monday morning a man was arrested near 16 Loi Street. The person was apparently armed with a knife and threatened the military personnel present. The military police immobilized him, while the police continued their investigation. His motives are unclear at the moment.” The Prime Minister of Belgium said “shocked by the incident”. CORVERSE “We would like to express our sincere thanks to military police officers. We are closely monitoring the situation with the police,” he said. “We are relieved no one was injured by the incident”.
