Close to finalizing the text for the motion of no confidence are representatives from SYRIZA, New Left, and Freedom Sail. However, this process was not without its behind-the-scenes drama. According to reports, discussions between SYRIZA and PASOK members about drafting the motion of no confidence had been ongoing for several days. For many hours, there was even a deadlock as Koumoundourou reportedly wanted the text to reflect the government’s impasse in Tempi as well as issues of theft and accuracy. Due to this deadlock, Nikos Androulakis called Alexis Haritsis and proposed that PASOK, New Left, and Freedom Sail sign the motion of no confidence. The MPs of these parties, along with Petros Pappas, reached 50 signatures, and the independent Muslim MP Bourhan Baran also intended to co-sign. However, Haritsis and PASOK President Zoe Konstantopoulou responded that without SYRIZA’s signatures, the proposal would lack legitimacy. After these behind-the-scenes maneuvers, both sides stepped back to find a solution. From SYRIZA’s side, it was indicated that if the text were finalized, they would not insist on pre-debate discussions about Tempi to expedite proceedings. SYRIZA spokesperson Giorgos Karameros, in an interview, criticized PASOK’s stance regarding the motion of no confidence. He emphasized that SYRIZA had agreed on the motion weeks ago but accused PASOK of delaying tactics. New Left sources stated that the motion should be filed immediately, urging PASOK and SYRIZA to rise to the occasion. They insisted that the issue should not become a field for minor party competition. Additionally, SYRIZA examined the possibility of a new preliminary investigation concerning former Deputy Minister of Development Nikos Papathanasis and Undersecretary Yiannis Tsakiris due to their involvement in the misuse of funds for the bailout. Giorgos Karameros highlighted that the improper allocation of €647,000, which went to a non-existent company, constituted a breach of public trust and would be investigated further.
