Bear Invades Home in Kastoria: Owner Fears for Safety

A homeowner in Kastoria is living in fear after a bear moved into her property. The woman, who lives in the region of Kastoria, says she feels powerless and demands immediate action to address the situation. The wild animal not only roams freely in and out of the house but also causes damage while eating anything it can find. Local residents are terrified that the bear might harm their children, calling for urgent solutions. Litsa Sotiriou, the homeowner affected by the bear’s presence, told Live News: “I should live in my home, and the bear should stay in the forest. I’ve contacted the authorities, including forestry services, who tried scaring the bear away with noise, but it was only temporary. I’m scared; it’s a wild animal.” On Tuesday, June 17th, a crisis management meeting took place at the office of Deputy Regional Governor of Kastoria, Dimitris Savvopoulos, following an invitation from the Director of the Kastoria Forestry Department, Athanasios Zegouras. Discussions focused on ensuring public safety, managing wildlife effectively, and coordinating immediate interventions due to increasing incidents of bears appearing in populated areas.
