The two motorcycles used by the culprits to escape after a major bank robbery in Katochi were found by the police. The first of the two motorcycles was discovered in a meadow near the Achelous River, along the road past Stamna, and it is believed that the culprits used it to flee. The second motorcycle was located in the Matarakga area and is suspected to have been used for surveillance according to tempo24.news. On April 4, 2025, two individuals, one wielding a Kalashnikov and a pistol, entered the bank in the Katochi area of Aetolia-Acarnania with their faces concealed. After immobilizing six employees and seven customers under threat of weapons, they led them to the vault room and kept them there for about ten minutes while they managed to open it. The culprits stole €200,000 and fled on a high-capacity motorcycle. The police have launched a manhunt for the culprits, as it is not ruled out that there was a third accomplice. Security officials from Patras are also involved in the investigation. Greek FBI officers are analyzing data about the movements and profile of the culprits to examine possible similarities with criminal groups conducting robberies for other purposes. It is noted that a similar robbery with terrorist overtones had occurred in the same area in the past. The most likely scenario is that there was even a second support team.
