The leader of the Nationalist Movement Party (MHP), Devlet Bahçeli, spoke about the arrest of Ekrem İmamoğlu, emphasizing the independence of Turkish justice. In a statement, Bahçeli highlighted that “Turkish justice is independent, impartial, and objective.” On his X post, Bahçeli stated, “The Republic of Turkey is a national, united, democratic, and social state governed by the rule of law. Human and societal peace is essential. National solidarity and justice standards are decisive factors in every transaction and intervention. Every person is equal under legal, human, and religious principles. Regardless of position or status, everyone has equal rights and obligations within the framework of the rules. No one can face discrimination or division, nor possess ideological, political, or economic superiority or privilege. Turkish justice is independent, impartial, and objective. Opposition to justice and law, or even opening it up for debate, invites chaos and violence.” Regarding İmamoğlu’s arrest, he wrote, “We must approach the judicial decision concerning the Mayor of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality with patience and common sense and respect every legal decision. I have full confidence in Turkish justice. Innocence is presumed until proven guilty by the court.” As Turkey progresses towards an era without violence, complaints, fear, doubts, prosperity, and peace, it is historically significant to remain vigilant against internal and external forces attempting to disrupt our order and peace.
