Ayrton Senna: Estoril Changes Colors to Honor the F1 Legend

On Holy Saturday (April 19, 2025, at 8:00 PM), Estoril will welcome Braga for their 30th competitive match in the Portuguese league. The players will wear special jerseys in the colors of the Brazilian flag—green and yellow—to honor the 40th anniversary of Ayrton Senna’s first Formula 1 victory. The unique shirt design is inspired by Senna’s iconic helmet and will be showcased during the Primeira Liga match against Braga. This gesture pays tribute to the legendary Brazilian driver who claimed his first Grand Prix win at the Estoril Circuit in 1985 under torrential rain. In a statement, the club highlighted their respect for Senna, noting his impact on an entire generation with three world championships won with McLaren and his undeniable connection to Cascais and Portugal. As part of the commemorative events, Ayrton Senna’s nephew, Bruno Senna, drove the historic Lotus Type 97T, which Senna used to secure his 1985 victory, at the Goodwood Festival in England last Sunday. The same single-seater will be on display at the Estoril Circuit on Sunday and Monday.
