Attica Region Delivers 65 Ultra-Modern Electric Waste Collection Vehicles to Municipalities

In a significant step towards upgrading waste management at the Lekanopedio landfill, the Special Inter-Municipal Association of Attica (EDSNA) delivered 65 ultra-modern electric waste collection vehicles to numerous municipalities on Friday, June 6, 2025. The official handover ceremony took place at the Metropolitan Park “Antonis Tritsis” in Ilion, attended by local government officials and representatives from the environmental community. Specifically, 37 of the total 65 flexible electric waste collection vehicles, 10 specialized brown vehicles for organic waste, and 5 branch cutters were handed over. The total value of the equipment amounts to €58.24 million (including VAT), marking a substantial investment in strengthening the circular economy and enhancing local governance. Regional Governor of Attica Nikos Hardalias emphasized the importance of cleanliness workers, calling them ‘silent heroes’ who work tirelessly day and night to ensure a cleaner environment. He highlighted the commitment to safety and improving urban living conditions with this new fleet of vehicles. The vehicles feature cutting-edge technology, ensuring high efficiency and sustainability in waste management.
