A new chapter begins for Attica Department Stores with its listing on Euronext Athens. The public offering launches today, 24 June 2026, and concludes on 26 June. On 2 July, when Attica’s shares begin trading on the Euronext Athens exchange, the retail chain will officially become a publicly listed company—reporting annual sales of at least €244 million, operating across five major shopping centres in Athens and Thessaloniki, and having tripled its retail space over the past two decades.

From the Army Pension Fund Building to the Stock Exchange

The story of Attica began in 2004, when a group of Greek fashion entrepreneurs launched an ambitious and relatively unprecedented project for the Greek market: establishing a high-end, large-scale department store in central Athens. They chose the iconic former Army Pension Fund building on Panepistimiou Street 9—part of the City Link complex—as their flagship location. In 2005, Attica opened its doors for the first time, occupying 25,000 square metres across eight floors. Designed to offer a premium shopping experience comparable to those found in major European cities, it pioneered the ‘shop-in-a-shop’ model in Greece, partnering with hundreds of international and local brands.

In 2008, Attica expanded to Golden Hall in Marousi (12,500 sqm), followed by its Thessaloniki store at Mediterranean Cosmos in 2012 (5,000 sqm). Its growth mirrored the expansion of Greece’s largest shopping centres, gradually strengthening its national footprint.

Consolidation and Scale

In September 2013, Attica Department Stores completed a merger of three entities: Folli-Follie’s subsidiary Attica Stores absorbed Northlandmark and the Northern Greece Stores Group. The newly unified company reported €120 million in annual sales, €40 million in equity, and employed around 2,000 people—securing its place among Greece’s top 50 non-supermarket, non-fuel retail companies. Founding shareholders included Konstantinos Lambropoulos, Konstantinos Tsouvelakakis, and Alexis Sgoumbopoulos.

Acquisition by IDEAL Holdings

2023 marked a pivotal turning point. In June, IDEAL Holdings announced a binding agreement to acquire 100% of Attica Department Stores for €100 million—funded by €65 million in bank financing and €35 million in equity. The transaction closed on 1 September 2023, making IDEAL Holdings the indirect sole shareholder. This acquisition created a broader retail group with consolidated annual revenues exceeding €400 million and EBITDA above €50 million.
