Attack on New Democracy MP Theodoros Karaglou’s Office in Thessaloniki

An attack was carried out on the office of Theodoros Karaglou, MP for New Democracy in Thessaloniki’s 2nd electoral district, following the conclusion of a major rally commemorating the 57 victims of the Tempi tragedy on February 28, 2025. After several incidents erupted during the rally, unknown individuals targeted Karaglou’s office located in central Thessaloniki near the train station. According to Karaglou, speaking to APE-MPE, unidentified persons broke the building’s door with a crowbar in an attempt to reach his office. However, due to security measures, he had installed a steel door which the attackers failed to breach before retreating. Karaglou suspects that the same individuals later vandalized the office of fellow New Democracy MP Fani Pappa. Earlier, Fani Pappa’s office also fell victim to similar attacks. In a statement, New Democracy condemned the attacks and called on all parties to strongly denounce them: ‘On the day when all of Greece mourns, reckless hooded vandals attacked the office of MP Fani Pappa for Thessaloniki’s 2nd electoral district, causing extensive damage. We condemn this attack and call on all parties to clearly and forcefully express their disapproval and condemnation. Democracy will not be terrorized, and New Democracy will not be intimidated.’
