Atletico Madrid Takes It to the Extremes: Reports Four Real Players to UEFA

Atletico Madrid claims that four players from Real Madrid violated the decorum of ‘rojiblancos’ during their recent Champions League clash. The dramatic derby between Atletico Madrid and Real Madrid has sparked further controversy after Julian Alvarez’s penalty was disallowed for double contact with the ball, igniting widespread debate over whether the decision was justified. The ‘rojiblancos’ argue that it is unclear if their forward touched the ball twice, prompting a call for explanations from UEFA to clarify the matter. UEFA confirmed that the goal was correctly disallowed as Alvarez slightly infringed the rules, leading the referee team to make the right call. However, this explanation did not satisfy Atletico Madrid, which decided to escalate matters further. UEFA has opened an investigation against Atletico due to objects being thrown onto the field by fans when Real players approached the stands to celebrate their qualification. Atletico Madrid asserts that four Real Madrid players—Kylian Mbappe, Vinicius Junior, Antonio Rudiger, and Dani Carvajal—provoked Atletico fans post-match, violating regulations. Consequently, Atletico sent video evidence to UEFA for review, potentially leading to disciplinary action. In one video, Rudiger is seen mimicking a gesture cutting his throat towards opposing fans. Meanwhile, Vinicius showcased Real Madrid’s numerous Champions League trophies, taunting Atletico’s lesser success. Allegedly, Dani Carvajal and Kylian Mbappe also made obscene gestures toward Atletico supporters. As of now, UEFA has not imposed sanctions on the Real Madrid players.
