The Athens Stock Exchange saw mild upward trends during today’s (02.07.2025) session, closing at a 15-year high. Investor attention was focused on the shares of ECHAE, following the takeover proposal from Euronext. The stock surged by 15.42%, with 2,692,429 shares traded worth €18.49 million.
The General Price Index of the Athens Stock Exchange closed at 1,893.97 points, rising 0.47%. This marks the highest closing since April 21, 2010 (1,936.43 points). Intraday, it approached 1,900 points and reached a high of 1,897.11 (+0.64%).
Trading value amounted to €307.24 million, with 65,514,800 shares exchanged. The large-cap index rose by 0.44%, while the mid-cap index gained 0.62%.
Among large-cap stocks, Viohalco (+6.26%), Elvalhalcor (+3.63%), Motor Oil (+2.60%), Jumbo (+2.41%), and OPAP (+2.00%) recorded the strongest gains. Conversely, Ellaktor (-5.80%), OLPeir (-2.28%), Sarantis (-1.41%), and Coca-Cola HBC (-1.07%) experienced the sharpest declines.
Shares of Ellaktor were trading without dividend rights of €0.55 per share. Eurobank and Alpha Bank had the highest trading volumes with 26,830,752 and 12,448,937 shares respectively. Eurobank also led in transaction value at €79.73 million, followed by National Bank at €40.95 million.
A total of 58 stocks rose, 42 fell, and 23 remained unchanged. The most notable gainers were ECHAE (+15.42%) and Mouzakis (K) (+9.76%), while Intralot (-6.03%) and Ellaktor (-5.80%) were the biggest losers.
