A slight increase is observed in prices at the start of today’s session (May 16, 2025) on the Athens Stock Exchange. Specifically, the General Index is currently at 1,795.19 units, recording gains of 0.52%, while trading volume stands at €16.55 million across 2.89 million shares traded. Of the 98 equity titles traded so far, 54 are showing an upward trend and 25 a decline, with 19 remaining unchanged from yesterday’s close. The heavy FTSE index of high capitalization records an increase of 0.59%, and the FTSEM index of medium capitalization shows gains of 0.30%. The banking FTSE XA index registers an increase of 0.18%. Among individual stocks, the largest gains are seen in the share of Ktima Lazaridi with gains of 5.83%, followed by ELVE with 4.25%. On the other hand, the largest losses are recorded by the share of OLTH with losses of -4.96% and NAKAS with a drop of -3.29%. European markets continued their gains today at the opening, supported by pharmaceutical stocks. The pan-European STOXX 600 index rose 0.4% at 10:10 AM Greek time and is heading towards its fifth consecutive week of gains. Other regional exchanges also moved into positive territory, with Germany nearing record highs. The pharmaceutical sector index led the rise with gains of 1.4%, thanks to shares of Novo Nordisk and Novartis.
