The Athens Stock Exchange opened today (28.5.2025) with rising prices. The General Index of the Athens Stock Exchange was formed at 1,866.32 units, recording gains of 0.88%. The trading value is shaped at €104.7 million over 32.9 million shares that have changed hands. Out of the 97 equity titles traded so far, 51 show an increase and 28 a decrease in price, while 18 remain unchanged compared to yesterday’s closing. Among the individual indices, the ‘heavyweight’ FTSE of high capitalization records an increase of 1.27%, and the FTSEM index of medium capitalization shows a rise of 0.24%. The banking FTSE XA records gains of 3.07%. Among the individual titles, the largest gains are seen by the share of Attiki Editions with an increase of 8.00%, followed by Alpha Bank’s share with an increase of 5.63%. On the opposite end, the biggest losses are recorded by the share of Akrita with a drop of 4.81%, followed by the NAKAS share with a decline of 2.61%. European markets saw minor fluctuations at the start of trading as investors await developments regarding trade negotiations with the USA and the announcement of a series of economic data from the region. The pan-European STOXX 600 index remained stable at 552.56 units at 10:11 am Greek time, following two consecutive sessions of gains. The German benchmark index showed an increase of 0.1%, after closing yesterday at a record high level. The French CAC 40 index registered an increase of 0.2% at the opening of trading.
