Athens Stock Exchange: General Index Moves Upward – Gains in Euro Markets

Mild upward trends prevail at the start of today’s (April 30, 2025) session of the Athens Stock Exchange with TIMON showing an increase. Specifically, the General Index is moving at 1,713.83 units with gains of 0.27% and a turnover of €25 million. The value of transactions was formed at 11:11 at €23.47 million on 5,890,444 shares traded. Of the 100 stock titles traded so far, 49 were up, 35 were down, and 16 remained unchanged from their previous closing level. The largest price increase was recorded by the Prontea share at 4.42%, followed by Elian at 3.72%. On the opposite end, the sharpest price drop was recorded by Haïdemenos at -4.76% and Viyatzoglou at -3.70%. In European markets, European stocks opened higher today as investors focus on corporate earnings announcements and economic data releases. The pan-European STOXX 600 index rose 0.30% but is heading for its second consecutive monthly decline if current trends persist. The FTSE 100 in London is at +0.08%, the DAX in Frankfurt at +0.61%, the French CAC 40 at +0.37%, the FTSE MIB in Milan at +0.19%, while Spain’s IBEX 35 is negative at -1.05%. The European benchmark index has recovered more than half of its losses after plummeting nearly 18% from record highs earlier this month due to global recession fears sparked by U.S. President Donald Trump’s tariffs.
