Athens Stock Exchange Closes with High Gains for the General Index at €333.77 Million

The Athens Stock Exchange saw significant gains during today’s session (June 24, 2025), closing above 1,860 points and returning to levels near this year’s highs. The market outperformed European markets, accompanied by high trading volumes. The General Index closed at 1,867.57 points, marking an increase of 2.68%. Intraday, it reached its highest value at 1,868.96 (+2.76%).

Positive sentiment was also observed in international markets, which remained unaffected by reports of a ceasefire violation between Israel and Iran. Yesterday’s announcement of a ceasefire positively influenced investors who disregarded any tensions that arose today. Trading value on the Greek stock exchange amounted to €333.77 million, including €75.88 million for packages, while 69,109,378 shares were traded.

The high-capitalization index rose by 2.80%, and the medium-capitalization index strengthened by 2.02%. Among high-capitalization stocks, the largest increases were recorded by Cyprus (+5.33%), Aegean Airlines (+4.96%), Alpha Bank (+4.69%), Piraeus Bank (+4.54%), Elvalhalcor (+4.26%), and Ethniki (+4.20%). Conversely, declines were noted for EYDAP (-1.13%), DEH (-1.13%), and Coca-Cola HBC (-0.09%).

Eurobank and Alpha Bank had the highest trading volumes with 31,465,877 and 14,024,833 shares traded respectively. Eurobank reported the highest trading value at €90.67 million, followed by Alpha Bank at €41.58 million. A total of 91 stocks increased, 20 decreased, and 10 remained stable. Notable gainers included Doppler (+9.50%) and Frigoglass (+8.64%), while notable losers were Chaideemenos (-7.58%) and Flexoprck (-6.14%).
