In a heartwarming gesture during the Easter celebrations, the Municipality of Athens served traditional Easter meals and gifts to hundreds of vulnerable individuals and families through the Reception and Solidarity Center (KYADA). The menu featured roasted lamb with potatoes, salad, cheese, dyed Easter eggs, and tsoureki (traditional Easter bread), complemented by music and games for children. This community feast took place at the enclosed field in Seraphion, located near Piraeus on Echelidon Street, aiming to provide joyous moments for those in need.
Mayor of Athens Haris Doukas expressed, “In Athens, we are all one family. Here at Seraphion and other facilities, we provided over 1,300 Easter meals to our fellow citizens who need them most. Happy Easter to everyone.” Doukas noted an increase in attendance this year, highlighting growing inequalities and emphasizing the municipality’s commitment to supporting vulnerable populations throughout the year, not just during holidays.
Mina Foundoula, president of KYADA, reinforced the municipality’s dedication to assisting families and individuals in need by providing food, medication, and other essential goods, acknowledging that what may be taken for granted by some is not accessible to others.
