On Sunday, March 9, 2025, traffic restrictions will be enforced in the center of Athens due to the 2025 Athens Half Marathon and other related events. These restrictions will be in place from 7:00 AM until 2:00 PM. The 13th Athens Half Marathon will see the participation of 25,000 runners across various distances.
The half marathon race will begin on Vassilissis Amalias Avenue near the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and follow a route through central Athens before concluding at the same location. Additionally, there will be a Family Run event for children and parents starting at 11:45 AM and a 5K race starting at noon.
Due to these events, temporary traffic disruptions are scheduled as follows:
– Full closure of roads including Vassilissis Amalias, Panepistimiou, Syngrou, Patision, and others.
– Prohibition of vehicle movement, parking, and standing in designated areas.
Alternative routes have been suggested for drivers heading to different parts of the city, such as towards Zografou, Pagkrati, Kaisariani, or the southern suburbs. Drivers are encouraged to avoid affected areas during the specified hours.
