Athens Half Marathon 2025: 25,000 Runners to Flood the Streets of the Capital

Countdown has begun for the largest road event of the year within the boundaries of the Municipality of Athens in 2025. On Sunday, March 9, 2025, morning, the 13th Athens Half Marathon is expected to attract a total of 25,000 runners across all distances, surpassing last year’s participation. Specifically, 10,000 runners will compete in the 21.1 km race, while another 15,000 will participate in the 5 km and Family Run events, flooding the streets of the capital. Participants must be at the starting line no later than thirty minutes before their designated start time. From 6:00 AM, there will be a gradual traffic ban in the city center, with Leoforos Amalias remaining closed to vehicles from 5:30 AM. The event is organized by the Municipality of Athens, OPAANDA, and SEGAS with support from the Region of Attica. Since Tuesday, March 4, 2025, emails containing participation numbers (Bib number) have been sent out to all registered runners, concluding on Wednesday, March 5, 2025. This email will serve as the entry ticket to collect race materials from the Runner Service Center & ERGO Half Marathon EXPO. The detailed route starts at Vasilissis Amalias Avenue near the Monument of the Unknown Soldier, weaving through central Athens and returning to the finish line at the same location.
