Ataman and Bečirović Fined by Euroleague for Behavior During Panathinaikos vs. Efes Game

The staff had numerous complaints about the refereeing during the first game against Efes at OAKA in the playoffs. Ergin Ataman and Saša Bečirović directed their frustrations towards the referees, resulting in both the coach and technical director of Panathinaikos being penalized with financial fines. The Turkish and Slovenian officials will have to pay a total of 8,000 euros each. According to the Euroleague announcement: ‘Mr. Saša Bečirović, Technical Director of Panathinaikos AKTOR, has been fined 8,000 euros for actions representing a lack of respect towards the referee crew during the Panathinaikos AKTOR – Anadolu Efes game, in accordance with Article 27.2.b) of the EuroLeague Basketball Disciplinary Code. Mr. Ergin Ataman, Head Coach of Panathinaikos AKTOR, has also been fined 8,000 euros for actions representing a lack of respect towards the referee crew during the Panathinaikos AKTOR – Anadolu Efes game, in accordance with Article 27.2.b) of the EuroLeague Basketball Disciplinary Code.’
