“Butia” approaching the pandemic period noted Greek exports in January 2024, leading to an expansion of the trade deficit. According to the ELSTAT data, the total value of 11.2% in January 2024 was EUR 4,009.8 billion compared to EUR 4,513.7 billion in January 2023. A corresponding reduction had also been recorded in January 2021, i.e. when the effects of pandemic and lockdown on the economy had begun to be reflected. Back then, the fall had reached 12.1%. The value of oil-free exports in January 2024 was reduced by EUR 242,6 million, i.e. 8,3% and the value without oil and ships in January 2024 by EUR 237,6 million, i.e. 8,1%, compared to January 2023. In detail, exports in January thus moved: The total value of imports decreased by 6.3% in January 2024 and reached 6.552.9 billion euros compared with 6.99004 billion euros in January 2023. The corresponding value without oil products in January 2024 fell by EUR 162,7 million, i.e. 3,4%, while the corresponding value without oil and ships in January 2024 decreased by EUR 179,2 million, i.e. 3.7%, compared to January 2023. The trade deficit in January 2024 amounted to 2.543.1 billion euros compared to 2,476,7 billion euros in the same month of the year 2023, showing an increase of 2.7% in euros. The corresponding value without oil products in January 2024 showed an increase in the deficit by €79.9 million, i.e. 4.3%, while the corresponding value without oil and ships in January 2024 increased by €58.4 million, i.e. 3.1% compared to January 2023.
