More specifically, as stated in a communication to the OECD, “basic parameter of the new system is the full assurance of the anonymity of the movement and respect both the right of informational self-determination, and the right to privacy of all passengers in public urban transport of Athens”.
“With the aim of a αναλογικότεÏη and more equitable pricing policy that will benefit passengers, continues the announcement, the OASA has made it possible for only the anonymous statistical analysis of the movements in accordance with the type of fare as it is not possible to correlate them with personal information of passengers who choose the electronic card pass for commuting”.
In addition, it is noted that “the OSCE has all the relevant documentation for all the necessary technical measures to ensure fully the privacy of the movements of passengers”.
Finally, the OASA, in strict accordance with the law on personal data and the recommendations of the Authority for Personal Data Protection (PDPA) “assures that in each case there will be no possibility of correlation of the movement with a specific natural person, and therefore identification, upholding fully the privacy of the users of the e-ticket, and the right of the public to the anonymous movement taking into account the experience of other european countries, where it has been applied to the electronic ticket”.
