An assassination attempt on Ukrainian oligarch Vadym Germolayev in Monaco appears to have been a highly coordinated operation, meticulously planned by someone with precise knowledge of his movements. Security service sources tell Daily Mail that investigations into the bomb attack are proceeding at full speed.
Targeted Attack at Luxury Residence
The 58-year-old Ukrainian billionaire was seriously injured when an improvised explosive device detonated at the entrance of a luxury apartment building where he was arriving — around 9 p.m. on Monday, 29 June 2026, in Monaco. The blast critically wounded his long-term partner — not his wife, as initially reported — and also injured their 13-year-old son.
Monaco police, assisted by French authorities, have launched a manhunt for the suspect, who was captured on security cameras leaving the scene immediately after the explosion. He remains at large.
A Precision-Planned Hit
According to intelligence sources cited by Daily Mail, the attack was executed with surgical precision. Former British military intelligence officer and Brigadier General Philip Ingram said evidence points to days of surveillance on the target.
“It’s clear this was an exceptionally well-planned assassination attempt. The perpetrator didn’t care who else might be hurt — only that Germolayev was killed. The bomb’s placement shows prior reconnaissance of the area and careful study of residents’ daily routines,” Ingram stated.
The fact that the device exploded precisely as Germolayev returned home further supports suspicions that the attacker knew his schedule intimately.
Victim Identified as Longtime Partner
Early reports mistakenly identified Germolayev’s wife as the injured woman. It was later confirmed he was accompanied not by his wife Anna — with whom he has four children and lives in a high-security villa in Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat on the French Riviera — but by his long-term partner, 46-year-old Ukrainian-born businesswoman Anna Nasobina, who resides primarily in London.
Nasobina suffered catastrophic injuries in the blast, losing both legs. She is currently in intensive care, fighting for her life. Their 13-year-old son was also wounded and is being treated at the same hospital. The attack occurred at the apartment building where Nasobina reportedly lives.
Investigation Focuses on Fraud Networks
Monaco prosecutors are treating the case as attempted murder, not terrorism. Ukrainian authorities are also involved, and investigations are reportedly focusing on suspected international phone scam networks linked to the incident.
