Earlier today, the owner of an auto parts business and the owner of a tanker truck involved in the major fire in Aspropyrgos appeared before the public prosecutor for criminal investigations. The two suspects—arrested in connection with the blaze—face charges related to two felonies and two misdemeanors.
Charges Include Explosion, Arson, and Safety Violations
Specifically, they are accused of causing an explosion and arson that endangered human life, as well as serious bodily injury due to negligence and failure to implement and maintain required safety measures.
The two defendants were referred to an investigating judge for formal questioning, while the judicial inquiry remains ongoing—including potential involvement of additional individuals.
Critical Condition for Three Workers
Three employees of the business remain in critical condition, receiving intensive care at Athens’ KAT Hospital and Genimatas General Hospital, both intubated and on ventilatory support. Eight other people injured in the incident—suffering from respiratory complications and burns—are hospitalized but out of immediate danger.
