In the early hours of Tuesday (1.7.25), a couple was arrested in Aspropyrgos following a dramatic chase, according to ERT. The incident occurred just after 4:00 AM in the Neoktista area when officers from the OPKE unit signaled for a vehicle inspection due to loud music being played inside the car where the 22-year-old man and his girlfriend were traveling. However, instead of complying with police orders, the driver accelerated to escape, prompting a pursuit. Later, police reported that the car was stopped on Agias Sofias Street, and the two occupants exited the vehicle and attacked the officers. Locals from the neighborhood also reportedly threw stones and other objects at the police. Eventually, the officers managed to arrest the pair and took them to Aspropyrgos Police Station. The police officers sustained minor injuries during the confrontation, while damage was caused to the patrol car.
