Artemis Moukopoulos: Video Shows Musician Holding Clarinet and Firework at 2024 Festival

A close friend of the musician, who handed him the item, reportedly claimed he didn’t know it was a firecracker but passed it as some sort of sparkler. The same individual submitted a statement regarding the serious incident involving the firecracker that exploded in Artemis Moukopoulos’ hands. The musician asserts that the man, a close friend, never informed him that what he was holding was a firecracker. Believing it to be a sparkler, he lit it, leading to an explosion that resulted in doctors amputating two of his fingers. The clarinetist thought it was a sparkler like those used in birthday cakes or festivals, similar to the one he lit on July 22, 2024, and posted a video on Instagram. The two men share a friendship spanning years, having known each other since childhood. The 36-year-old often accompanied the famous musician to every gig where he played the clarinet and posted related videos on social media, referring to Artemis Moukopoulos as a brother. The 32-year-old musician reciprocated this sentiment. However, the 36-year-old claims he himself did not know it was a firecracker and stated it was the first time he had seen such an explosive up close. ‘He had no contact with firecrackers. He has sworn this under oath. Firecrackers and sparklers were not something he ever touched,’ said the 36-year-old’s lawyer.
