The Minister of National Defence participated today, Tuesday, February 4, 2025, in presenting the program of upgrading the “Contemporary Fighter” for the , which took place at the Military School of Euclides. Nikos Dendias, presented evidence and information about the uniform of the “Contemporary Fighter”, and then referred to the reforms foreseen by the “Agenta 2030” for the Armed Forces. CORVERSE The event was attended by military leadership, representatives of the Security Corps, honorary leaders, a multitude of faculty students and other guests. The aim of the program is to upgrade the equipment carried by the fighter to respond to the modern and constantly changing battlefield. The architecture of the upgrade is based on five levels, survival, communication, awareness, flexibility and firepower. The “Contemporary Fighter” project , estimated costing 204m euros , will be implemented with the partnership mainly of the Military Works 700 SA and 301 EB with Greek companies, while the first delivery of materials is expected to take place in the summer of 2026. CORVERSE The tree pointed out in his greeting: “Ladies and gentlemen, today’s event is for the Ministry of National Defence and for the Armed Forces very important. Perhaps one of the most substantial steps in implementing Agenda 2030, because it directly concerns the privateer, the first-line fighter. The Greek fighter, that is, the heart of the Armed Forces of our homeland. I don’t have to say the obvious: Modern Armed Forces is not meant without modern fighters. Also, the modern field of operations, as you have seen, requires new equipment of each fighter, which provides both protection and flexibility and firepower. PHOTOGRAPHY A series of changes, from the helmets from “Kevlar”, from the anti-ballistic protection devices, from modern masks, from the sensor uniforms, from the sights, from the protection glasses, from the first aid box, from the cases of various species, from the Command and Control systems, equipment, the supply of the new sniper rifle, the upgrading of the known to all of us rifle G3, a very long list of changes in fighter equipment. I don’t think there’s anything left of what we knew until today. Not even the lambs. So we are creating a new reality. A Greek soldier of the 21st century. This program has joined the Long-term Defense Equipment Programming. It is funded with 204m euros. It will begin to evolve immediately. The timetable for completion will be presented for the entire Greek Army, which coincides with 2030. However, I would like to mention something else that is not very common to date in our country. The financial footprint in the domestic defence industry. PHOTOGRAPHY The Greek defence industry has the potential to produce about 90%, perhaps more, than you saw in the presentation before. And it thus verifies the choice to make our defence ecosystem a lever to develop our economy. Ladies and gentlemen, to date since the Greek taxpayer’s late, literally in Greece we are talking about the Greek taxpayer’s deficit, they have invested in the Defence of the Country over 250 billion euros. PHOTOGRAPHY I’m talking about equipment programs, not payroll. From this huge amount, from 1974 to today little money has been absorbed into our country’s defence ecosystem. One of the aims of this ambitious Agenda is to change this. To change first as a mindset and then as a reality. I return to equipment, which is an investment in Defence and Greek soldier, the Greek fighter. That is, the one who guarantees with his life the integrity and independence of our country. Because I think the best weapon system is just that, the trained Greek fighter of the 21st century. Thank you very much.”
