New details have emerged in the Argos case, indicating that three police officers—not two—were present at the location where 20-year-old Theo was fatally shot.

Revised Account of the Incident

According to reports by Star, one officer was positioned in the supermarket’s parking lot and fired into the air from a height of approximately three meters. A second officer pursued Theo on foot through overgrown grass, while the third moved to Theo’s right and fired toward a nearby wall.

“Watch Out—He’s Armed”

The officer who fired into the air reportedly shouted, “Watch out—he’s armed,” to his colleague chasing Theo. He made this statement during his testimony before judicial authorities. Both accused officers maintain they believed Theo remained armed at the time. They stated: “We saw him holding a weapon during the car chase. We assessed he was still armed in those seconds—and had not realized he’d already discarded it, or that it was a replica.”

The third officer—who fired toward the wall—told investigators he believed an exchange of gunfire had begun between his colleague and Theo after hearing the shots fired into the air.

Minister and Police Union React

Minister of Citizen Protection Michalis Chryssochoidis addressed the case publicly, saying: “The police exist to arrest murderers—not to commit murder. This cannot happen, and when it does, it wounds us all. It is death—death for him, and death for us too.”

In response, the Argolis Police Officers’ Union issued a statement rejecting the minister’s remarks: “We are parents too—we raise children. We do not kill children. Political leadership must protect the authority of institutions and safeguard the independence of the judiciary—not create the impression that this case has already been judged. Soon, the evidence will prove you wrong.”

Detention and Ongoing Investigation

The two officers were transferred on Tuesday, 14 July 2026, to Korydallos Prison, where they are being held in Wing ST alongside four other detainees—including fellow police and customs officers.

The investigation remains active. Authorities are reviewing witness statements, mapping each officer’s position, and reconstructing the sequence of gunshots to clarify precisely what occurred in the critical moments before Theo’s death.
