Argentina has unveiled a digital archive detailing the activities of Nazis who sought refuge in the country after World War II. The extensive digital archive, now available online, includes documents on notorious Nazi criminals such as Joseph Mengele and Adolf Eichmann. Comprising over 1,850 documents previously only accessible in print at Argentina’s National Archives since 1992, this collection is now publicly accessible thanks to extensive restoration and digitization efforts announced by the Ministry of the Interior. Among the records are those related to SS officer Adolf Eichmann, responsible for transporting millions of Jews to extermination camps. Eichmann fled to Argentina post-war but was captured by Israeli agents in 1960, tried, and executed. Known as the ‘Angel of Death,’ Dr. Josef Mengele conducted horrific experiments at Nazi concentration camps before escaping first to Argentina and later Brazil, where he died in 1979.
