Antonis Samaras “past” in Angela Merkel with videos from the time he was Prime Minister

To answer Angela Merkel and what she mentions in her memoirs about him was attempted by Antonis Samaras. The former Prime Minister went on a post on his personal Facebook account, Thursday night (28.11.2024). It is recalled that former Chancellor of Germany, Angela Merkel, in her book entitled ‘Freedom’, devotes just two phrases to Antonis Samaras, but these are “pharmacies” and “vaccinate” him fully. In particular the once “iron lady of Europe”, referring to Alexis Tsipras’ victory in the 2015 national election writes: “Antonis Samaras’ predecessor had failed to fully implement reforms agreed in second rescue program”. With her proposal Angela Merkel “scaring” the then government Samara – Venizelos and the story about Gika Hardouveli’s e-mail and the negotiation, supposedly closed before the 2015 election, blows up. Antonis Samaras does not accompany his posting with any comment, however, the video he shared on Facebook Thursday night is a staple of statements that he and the chancellor had made during his Prime Minister’s term. Heading: “THE ABSOLUTE TRUTH – From Merkel’s congratulations to Samaras to “grumbles””, the video is accompanied by a text that reads: “The historical truth is something that cannot be questioned. Not even to be altered. No matter how much effort they make, there are always facts there to capture it. And not only the facts, but also the so-called, what has been publicly recorded… Greece came back to light, left behind the recession and stayed in Europe, refusing to yield to the unimaginable pressures because of the efforts of Antonis Samaras’ government. Merkel in her memoirs now grumbles about Antonis Samaras, referring to their collaboration. But what is the absolute truth? And why this “grumble”? “…This (ed. the grumbling) comes through the former chancellor’s own words with the absolute recognition of the efforts and, above all, the results of what the then government has achieved, and, the former Prime Minister’s refusal to give in to the pressures on the new memorandum brought by… next”.
