Anti-War Rally in Constitution Square: Traffic Disruptions in Central Athens

in

A large anti-war rally is taking place in Constitution Square, organized by PAME in response to the escalating tensions in the Middle East. The event has caused traffic disruptions on Vasileos Sophias Avenue from Sekeri Street to Amalias Avenue at its intersection with Diakou Street, and on Piraeus Street near Sokratous Street. PAME condemns the new imperialist intervention in the region, highlighting that recent U.S. bombings in Iran represent a dangerous escalation risking widespread military conflict. Greece, they argue, should not become complicit or accept its role as an aggressor or launchpad for war. Dimitris Koutsoumpas, General Secretary of the KKE, emphasized during his speech that American attacks on Iran are steps towards global imperialist warfare. He called for unity, distrust of the government’s militaristic preparations, closure of all foreign bases, cessation of military cooperation with Israel, and solidarity with the people of Palestine and other regional nations. Dozens of PAME bodies and broader left-wing organizations participate in the gathering.
