Ano Liosia Shooting: Driver Survives 20 Shots Amid Links to Russian Mafia

Scenes reminiscent of a Hollywood movie unfolded on Friday evening (16.05.2025) when unknown assailants opened fire on an armored vehicle outside a gas station in the Ano Liosia area, targeting the driver. The attackers showed no regard for human life or collateral damage. The intended target was a Greek national, a known member of the local mafia who reportedly has recently collaborated with the Russian-speaking mafia and has been involved in conflicts with members of the Greek Mafia, according to ERT. Miraculously, the driver of the armored vehicle survived despite over 20 bullets fired at him. Investigations are underway to determine if there’s any connection between this assassination attempt and a recent execution in Chalandri. The incident occurred as the victim left a nearby gas station. He was followed by the attackers, who began shooting while he was driving his armored SUV on Elithi Street in Liosia. After firing more than 20 rounds, the perpetrators fled the scene. Notably, the target is well-known to authorities due to his involvement in a high-profile case and had been released from prison just eight months ago. He himself reported the incident to emergency services.
