Ano Liosia: Moment Hitmen Hunt and Fire at Black Mercedes of 42-Year-Old Bodybuilder – ‘They Shot Me’

A documentary video obtained by newsit.gr yesterday evening (16.05.25) sheds light on the attempted assassination in Ano Liosia. The incident occurred before 11 PM on Friday, with the 42-year-old bodybuilder narrowly escaping a hail of bullets due to his armored Mercedes. The masked hitmen, riding in another vehicle, fired over 40 rounds at the armored car outside a gas station. The video captured the moment when the attackers pursued the black Mercedes driven by the bodybuilder, who later became the target of mafia gunfire but survived. Experts believe Greek Mafia groups orchestrated the attack, reacting against Russian mafia dominance in Greece and their big boss “Edik” operating from Dubai. The 42-year-old, previously acquitted of the murders of Giorgos Karaivaz and boxer Haris Kontogiorgis, knew he was a prime target after being released last October. Consequently, he traveled in a highly armored Mercedes, took self-protection measures, and prepared an escape plan. Analysts from the Greek FBI question the hitmen’s strategy, noting they used AK-47s despite knowing the car was armored, likely expecting to penetrate it. They emptied at least two magazines, firing chaotically and missing critical areas, indicating lack of experience. After surviving the attack, the bodybuilder reached a friend’s gas station and made two calls—one to the Anti-Extortion Division reporting the shooting and giving his location, and another to emergency services.
