A victim of a syndicate of ‘eagle-clawed’ criminals who committed frauds, thefts, and robberies was the mother of Anna Michel Asimakopoulou. From February to April 2025, members of this syndicate impersonated accountants or wind turbine maintenance workers and carried out various crimes. On April 1st, posing as employees of an electricity company, they managed to enter her apartment and steal €5,000 and jewelry worth €10,000. The police, after receiving complaints from victims, managed to arrest some members of the syndicate and identified six additional cases. The decisive blow that exposed the syndicate occurred last Wednesday with the arrest of a 33-year-old local man involved in multiple thefts and frauds in Athens. Investigations revealed four more members. The 33-year-old, pretending to be an accountant, tricked a 66-year-old woman into handing over her jewelry. The woman alerted the police, who apprehended the suspect during the exchange. Investigations show that since February 2025, the accused impersonated accountants, electricity company employees, or wind turbine maintenance workers to commit thefts, robberies, and frauds. Further investigation by the Department of Pursuit and Tracking of Constitutional Crimes uncovered six more cases. Both the 33-year-old and other syndicate members have been previously involved in similar offenses. The arrested man was handed over to the competent prosecutorial authority.
