Andreas Karaflos Proposes Acquittal of Actor in Second Rape Attempt Case – ‘Joke Rapist’

in

The prosecutor, Andreas Karaflos, has proposed the acquittal of the actor for a second alleged attempted rape during the trial. Expressing strong doubts about the accusations, Karaflos highlighted the lack of forensic medical evidence. ‘This case lacks the essential element of rape — a forensic report,’ he stated. He also pointed out contradictions and gaps in the accuser’s testimony, including her inability to recall the car model or specific details about the location.

Karaflos emphasized that there are significant doubts regarding the act itself, beyond reasonable doubt. He noted that the accused had the opportunity to commit rape but stopped short of doing so, suggesting the resistance described by the accuser was inconsistent with the physical confrontation she claimed. Referring to the defendant as a ‘joke rapist,’ the prosecutor criticized how any form of contact is labeled as rape in Greece, contrasting it with other countries where similar acts are considered less severe.

Regarding the second accuser, Karaflos questioned the credibility of her statements due to inconsistencies and missing details. He identified at least 26 contradictions in her testimonies, which he argued cannot be ignored by the court. He further suggested that the case might better fit charges related to sexual harassment rather than rape.

Karaflos concluded by referencing concerns surrounding the #MeToo movement and warned against potential dangers when allegations are made without sufficient evidence. He urged the court to deliver a fair, objective, and rational verdict.
