Amfissa Tragedy: Man Murders His Goddaughter Before Taking His Own Life

The small community of Pigadia in Amfissa is reeling in shock following a horrifying incident where a 54-year-old man murdered his 51-year-old goddaughter before committing suicide. Relatives, friends, and local residents are struggling to comprehend what led the man to commit such an act. The victim, a mother of three, had previously reported a family member for domestic violence last summer but did not pursue the matter further. According to reports by journalist Vasilis Lamproupoulos on Live News, the perpetrator visited the woman’s home the night before the murder-suicide. Witnesses stated that their encounter appeared normal without any signs of tension. However, the next day, the man was seen sending numerous messages to the victim from a café, which went unanswered. Just before the shooting, he reportedly said, ‘You shouldn’t have done this to me.’ Described as a hardworking and beloved individual, the victim worked tirelessly managing livestock and driving a taxi part-time. Meanwhile, the 54-year-old was characterized as a loner who worked at the local dairy since childhood and lived with his brother and elderly mother. Recent behavioral changes were noted, including increased aggression when drinking beer at the village café. Local sources also revealed that the murderer was affiliated with Golden Dawn, sparking outrage among community members.
