American Filmmaker Arrested in Italy for Killing His Russian Girlfriend and Their Child

Shocking developments have emerged regarding the case of the 46-year-old American filmmaker arrested in Italy. Francis Kaufman was detained last Friday (June 13, 2025) following a European arrest warrant issued for the murder of his girlfriend and their daughter. According to La Repubblica, Kaufman had received €900,000 five years ago to produce and direct a movie. Known for frequently changing his name and identity, Kaufman is accused of strangling his one-year-old daughter in Rome’s Villa Pamphili park about 15 days ago. The body of Anastasia, his 28-year-old girlfriend, was identified by her mother through an online platform on Thursday morning (June 19, 2025). Investigators confirmed Anastasia’s identity via a distinctive tattoo on her foot. Italian authorities have requested extradition proceedings from the U.S. for Kaufman.
