Alpha Bank: New Collective Agreement with €1,600 Starting Salary

A landmark collective agreement has been signed between Alpha Bank’s Staff Association and the Bank’s Management, introducing transformative labor and social policies in Greece’s banking sector. Titled ‘Where Work Meets Family,’ the agreement places employees at its core—integrating work life with family needs, health, and youth support. Key provisions include a €1,600 starting salary for staff hired after 1 January 2020, effective 1 July 2026. It also launches the Alpha Junior Account for children aged 6–18, offers one-off financial aid for employees with children studying away from home, expands support for large families and employees with disabilities, and introduces interest-rate protection on housing loans. Additional measures include enhanced sick leave for childcare, boosted nursery subsidies, annual preventive health checks, improved personal loan terms, and bonuses for professional certifications. The agreement reaffirms telework rights, maternity hours, assisted reproduction support, and addresses AI’s impact on employment—underscoring its long-term vision. According to Staff Association President Tasos Gkiatis, the pact reflects serious dialogue and positions the employee as part of an extended family.
