An emergency transfer of a 17-year-old girl from the island of Alonnisos to Volos Hospital was conducted after she was diagnosed with Type A flu. The teenager was urgently transported on Wednesday afternoon (March 12, 2025) via a private boat to receive necessary medical care, as reported by thenewspaper. Type A flu is one of the most common forms of seasonal flu and can cause severe complications, especially in vulnerable groups such as children, the elderly, and individuals with underlying health conditions. The virus spreads through droplets from coughing, sneezing, or contact with contaminated surfaces. Symptoms include high fever, chills, muscle aches, cough, runny nose, and extreme fatigue. In severe cases, Type A flu may lead to pneumonia or other complications requiring intensive care and medication.
