Alkis Kampanos: 19 Candles Lit Tonight for 4th Anniversary of His Death

A memorial ceremony will be held tonight (31.01.2026) in Thessaloniki marking four years since the death of 19-year-old Alkis Kampanos, who was fatally stabbed during a fan altercation on 1 February 2023 on Charilaou Street. Organized by the ‘1st February 2022 – In Memory of Alkis’ group, the event will feature 19 members lighting 19 candles at the exact spot where he fell, followed by one minute of silence. Two tribute songs — ‘Safe Journey, Alkis’ and ‘You Hit Me Again’ — will be performed. The group invites the public to join in honoring his memory. Additionally, sports events for the 2026 Panhellenic Fans’ Day in Thessaloniki have been postponed as a mark of respect for seven PAOK fans who died tragically in a road accident.
