Alkinoos Ioannidis: The Response to Achilleas Beo, the Tempi Tragedy, and Trap Music

Alkinoos Ioannidis stated, ‘I am not impressed that trap songs are being released. In what kind of society do we live? Isn’t it sexist and phallocratic?’ In a comprehensive interview aired on Sunday afternoon (30.03.2025) on the Cypriot television show ‘Tet a Tet’ hosted by Tasos Tryfonos, the renowned artist discussed Mayor of Volos Achilleas Beo, the national tragedy of the Tempi, his family, and his children’s relationship with trap music. Ioannidis emphasized the exposure leading to endless debates and expressed his stance on social issues. Regarding the Tempi tragedy, he remarked, ‘It is a clear crime, a misfortune, and an unfortunate event because these children had the misfortune of being born in this era and country.’ He also revealed that this tragedy was a decisive factor for him to leave Greece so his children could experience life differently. On trap music, he noted, ‘My kids don’t listen to trap. What kind of society do we live in? It’s patriarchal, and this reflects in the music.’ Additionally, he shared insights into his songwriting process, balancing family life, and his relationship with fellow artists.
