Alimos: Video Captures Moment of 7-Car Pile-Up on Poseidonos Avenue

The dramatic incident occurred early Tuesday morning (June 16, 2025), along the coastal Poseidonos Avenue in Alimos. At around 1:30 AM, heading towards Piraeus near the Sarafi Street junction, a severe pile-up involving seven vehicles took place. Witnesses reported loud bangs echoing through the asphalt as drivers exited their cars to assess the damage. Several vehicles were severely damaged, with significant impact marks. According to reports, the driver of the first car involved was under the influence of alcohol. The 27-year-old tested positive during a breathalyzer test and was subsequently arrested for dangerous driving and driving under the influence. Seven people were injured in the crash. Emergency services, including two fire trucks, ambulances, and EKAV motorcyclists, rushed to the scene. Traffic police briefly halted traffic before reopening one lane, causing a long queue of hundreds of meters along Poseidonos Avenue for about an hour.
