The former Prime Minister will review international developments, focusing on the dangerous escalation of the situation in the Middle Suspend. The subject of the speech to be addressed tonight by former Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras, who had participated in the International Conference of the Arab Institute of Entrepreneurs and in 2019 in Tunis, is “The New Geopolitics and Economic Trends”. At the event for the 40 years of the Arab Institute of Entrepreneurs (IACE) in Tunis, Alexis Tsipras is expected to point out, among other things, in his speech that: * A new Euro-Mediterranean initiative for Peace, Security and Sustainable Development in the Mediterranean is needed. * The Mediterranean dimension must be an important element in the redesign of European policy in relation to the industrial sector, energy, green agenda and migration. * More generally, the EU must redefine its policies by looking at it in the next 10-20 years. It must consider how it can strengthen and integrate new labour force, promote common debt issue policy and strengthen wealth taxation. * Stand against hate speech against Donald Trump’s strangers. * We need an immigration policy geared to safe, smooth and legal migration. By legal means, respect for human life, returns to those who are not entitled to asylum and treatment of traffickers. * If Europe wants to become more productive like the US, it needs to consider how it can strengthen and integrate new labour force. 80% of the productivity difference between Europe and the USA is linked to the increase in the labour force of the second. Greece is a member of the EU and NATO, as 70% of Tunisia’s trade is with the EU. But at the same time we must ensure that we have space and flexibility – strategic autonomy – for an external and economic policy that will allow us to protect and support our peoples, our interests and our economies, in this new multipolar world of multiple crises. And that means making brave decisions. With our partners wherever possible. Without them and beyond, when necessary. * We are going through a historic transition to a multipolar world where the international role of the US is leading, but not dominant. We must develop a new multilateral architecture in both the financial and security fields. Global financial institutions should prioritise sustainable development and stability, particularly in areas where conflicts and climate change lead to greater migration flows. * We need a different kind of leadership from the West. A leadership based on a vision that accepts that the world is multipolar and not only guided by the United States. It is not enough to talk about values if we do not learn from past mistakes and we have double standards. * We stand actively against Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. It is important that Europe use all its diplomatic force for peace under international law in Ukraine. * It is important to condemn terrorism and any state that supports it. But terrorism cannot be tackled by killing thousands of civilians, including thousands of children from Israeli operations in Palestine. There must be an immediate ceasefire in the Middle East with the return of all hostages. Otherwise, European sanctions should be imposed on Israel.
