Alexis Kouyas retired as an advocate for the family of the murdered Alkis Kabanou

With his written statement, he announced his withdrawal from the case of his murder (the trial starts tomorrow (10.01.2025) at the Court of Appeal). Alexis Kouyas stressed that he did not receive the moral reward he expected from both the Mars FC and the family of the wrongful Alkis Kampanos and thus left the case. CORVERSE As he argued, his departure is purely a matter of disappointment to him, as the psychic link has been lost. Alexis Kouya’s statement: “As it is known, three years ago, the President of the Mars Amateur Association, Mr. Arvanitis and the President of the Mars FC, Mr. Karypidis begged me to take the charge against the accused of the heinous crime victim Alkis Kampanos. They brought me into contact with the Cabanou family and immediately, despite my practicing law in Athens, I began to do my work. CORVERSE I repeatedly visited the Interrogator who conducted the regular interrogation and asked for a series of interrogation acts, all of which were carried out. The result was that they were taken to the dock of the accused 12 perpetrators and who were eventually indicted for trial as coworkers, despite the victim being one, for the offence of co-existence of manslaughter by intent in a calm mental state. After 53 judges, to whom he paid all procedural expenses personally (even the parabola of the prepayment) the trial was completed in the first degree with absolute justification of my substantive and scientific evenings, which coincided with the views of the Prosecutor, Mrs. Cleamba and all the defendants, with the exception of two, were sentenced to the life sentence. After the decision was made I expected as a moral reward at least for my scientific and human effort to obtain at least a moral reward from the football organization of historian ARI Thessaloniki, which never happened to my great disappointment. But I was also disappointed that neither the Cabanou family invited me to a dinner to collect from there at least a moral satisfaction and to hear at least five warm words about my whole unselfish offer, which was not limited only to my presence in the trials, but also to important meetings, in cooperation with the then President of the Supreme Court and the then Supreme Court Attorney Mrs. George and Mr. Pliota, so that the Cabanou family could be sure that in this trial, unlike others held in Thessaloniki, the result would be a fair judgment. A few days ago and after months I received a phone call from fellow Thessaloniki, Mr. Poultsidis, who told me that they were waiting for me at 10/1/2025 in the Thessaloniki MOE to be led again by the particularly sensitive step of supporting the charge and a week ago I accepted the first phones from his mother and father Alkis Kampanou, who said that they believe that I would be a lawyer in the case. I didn’t answer, but today I made my decision, which is: I won’t be a lawyer for supporting the charge, because the psychic link that a lawyer must feel like me with those who choose him to represent them has been completely lost. I wish the lawyers who will replace me to help the court issue a fair decision, which will justify the memory of this 19-year-old child who did not have time to experience what was worth, but at the same time to issue a decision that will have all the characteristics of the fair trial.”
